Quick questions

Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are always welcome — current wait is usually under 20 minutes. But if you want a specific barber or a specific time, book online and skip the line.
How much does a cut cost?
$35 for a standard cut, $40 for a fade, $25 for kids, $50 for a cut + beard combo. No surprise fees — tax and tip not included.
Can I reschedule?
Free cancellation or reschedule up to 2 hours before your appointment. Just tap the link in your SMS confirmation.
Are you accepting new clients?
Always. Three of our four barbers have open slots this week. Lou (the owner) is booking about 3 weeks out on Saturdays — most other days he has availability.
What should I bring?
Just yourself. If you have a specific look you want, bring a photo — nothing wrong with a reference. Our barbers prefer it over vague descriptions.

Our Story

Twelve years in the same chair.

Lou Marchetti opened The Sharp Chair in April 2014 with one chair, one towel warmer, and a handshake deal on a 400-square-foot storefront at 445 Main Street East — the old Caruso shoe-repair space, if you've been around long enough to remember it. He'd spent twenty years cutting hair in Toronto — Yorkville, Queen West, Danforth — and decided he wanted to cut hair for neighbors, not strangers.

Twelve years later, we've got four chairs, three apprentices, a proper espresso machine, and a reputation in Milton that we don't take for granted. Every barber here is licensed. Every cut gets our full attention. Every regular is on a first-name basis.

We're not a chain. We're not franchising. We're one shop, on one street, for as long as Lou's knees will let him stand behind a chair. Ben Falardeau's been in chair two every Saturday at 9am for seven years now — that's the rhythm of this place.

What we believe

House values

Take your time

A 30-minute cut takes 30 minutes. Not 18. We don't stack chairs, we don't rush, we don't double-book. Your barber's full attention is yours for the duration.

Know your customer

We remember your cut, your job, your kids, and your dog's name. Small town barbershops have always worked this way — we just kept doing it.

Pay the barbers

Every tip goes to the barber. Every dollar. No pooling, no take-rates, no nonsense. If they're good enough to earn it, they should keep it.

Buy local, hire local

Our soap comes from Burlington. Our espresso beans from Oakville. Three of four barbers grew up in Halton. We're a Milton shop, for Milton.

Honest prices

No hidden fees, no "long hair surcharge," no weekend premiums. The price on the menu is the price at the chair.

Everyone's welcome

Kids, seniors, first-timers, guys who haven't had a real barber in twenty years. Sit down. Have a coffee. We've got you.

Common Questions

Questions, answered

If it's not here, text the shop at (905) 864-7272.

Do I need an appointment?
Nope — walk-ins are always welcome. But booking online guarantees you a time, lets you pick your barber, and skips the wait. During peak hours (Thursday–Saturday afternoons) walk-in waits can hit 45+ min.
What's your cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 2 hours before your appointment. After that, we charge 50% (we lose the slot — our barbers still get paid). No-show three times and we'll ask for a deposit going forward. We get it, life happens — text us if you're running late and we'll do what we can.
Do you cut kids' hair?
Yes — we love kid cuts. Ages 6+ can sit in the chair alone (we've got iPads). Under 6, we ask a parent sits in the chair beside them — it makes everyone more comfortable. Kids cuts are $25 and usually take 20 minutes.
How long has The Sharp Chair been around?
We opened in April 2014. Twelve years and counting. Same location, same ownership, same espresso machine (it's been rebuilt twice but it's technically the same machine).
Is there parking?
Yes — three-hour free street parking out front on Main Street East. There's also a free municipal lot directly behind the building (entrance from Charles Street). During farmer's market Saturdays the street fills up fast, so plan for the lot.
Do you do straight razor shaves?
Yes — Sal is our straight-razor specialist, but all four barbers are licensed and trained. Hot lather, traditional blade, two passes, cold towel to close the pores, balm to finish. $45 for the service, $55 for the full hot-towel treatment.
Can I book a wedding party?
Absolutely — this is our favorite thing to do. We can open the shop early or stay late for groups of 4+. Groom's package is $120/head and includes cut, beard, shave, and a glass of whiskey. Call Lou directly at (905) 864-7272 to book.
Do you take cash only?
No — we take everything: cash, debit, credit, tap, Apple Pay, Google Pay. Tips on cards go 100% to your barber, same day.
What products do you use?
We use and stock a handful of brands we believe in: Layrite, Reuzel, Suavecito, Proraso, Baxter of California, and a Burlington-made shave soap called Lockport. All available at the front desk. Members get 10% off.
Can I request a specific barber?
Always. Each barber has their own online schedule — pick who you want when you book. If they're fully booked, you can join their waitlist for cancellations (we text you if a slot opens).
Are you kid/stroller friendly?
Yes — we've got a booster seat for little kids, a quiet corner with kid books, and our front door is street-level (no stairs). Stroller parks right inside the door.
Do you offer hair color?
We do grey blending and "camo" color (makes grey less grey) for $20 extra on any cut. We don't do full coloring, highlights, or styling services — we're a traditional barbershop, not a salon. For full color work, we send people to our friends at Avra on Ontario Street.
Is it a sausage fest in there?
We cut everyone's hair. If you want a short cut — fade, crop, buzz, whatever — we'd love to have you in the chair. That said, longer styles and layering aren't really our specialty, so we'll always be honest if we think a salon will serve you better.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes — physical cards in-store, digital cards online from $25 up. Never expire. Redeem for any service or product. Buy one online.
The Math · Direct vs Platforms

Why direct booking wins.

A side-by-side breakdown of what The Sharp Chair (and you) save by booking through this site instead of Booksy, Schedulista, Square Appointments, or GlossGenius.

For the shop owner

Keep every dollar the chair earns.

  • $0/month platform fee. Booksy charges $35–129. GlossGenius $24–72. Schedulista $25–50. Square $0–69.
  • 0% transaction fee on bookings. Most platforms skim 1–3% off every appointment on top of payment processing.
  • No "promoted booking" fees. Booksy charges shops $1–3 each time they push your shop in their app.
  • Customer data stays with you. Names, emails, phone numbers — yours. Not the platform's marketing list.
  • It lives on YOUR website. Not a generic platform listing where you compete with 100+ other shops.
For the customer

No middle-man. No surprise fees.

  • No platform booking fee. Booksy adds $0.99–$2.99 to every appointment. Direct booking is $35 cut = $35.
  • Better cancellation policies. Some platforms keep no-show fees instead of giving them to the shop.
  • Loyalty rewards stay with the shop. Your punch card means something here, not on a platform you'll forget about.
  • Personal service. Lou knows your name — not a booking algorithm.
  • Faster checkout. One form. No app downloads. No marketing emails from "100 nearby barbershops."

Common Questions

But wait...

Why doesn't every shop just build their own site?
Cost barrier. A custom direct-booking site used to mean $8–15K up front and a developer on retainer. Glass Floor Studio fixed that — productized, fixed-price builds for local trades. The Sharp Chair site you're on right now is one of them.
Don't booking platforms drive more customers?
In theory, yes — they show your shop in their app to nearby users. In practice, you're paying for that exposure twice: the monthly fee AND a per-promotion fee, while sitting next to 100+ competitors sorted by who pays the most. Most regulars find shops through Google, Instagram, and word of mouth. The math says it's cheaper to invest the saved fees into local SEO and your own site.
Is it harder for customers to find me without Booksy?
No — local SEO + a properly-optimized Google Business Profile do the heavy lifting. When someone searches "barber near me" in Milton, Google's map pack matters infinitely more than any platform listing. Sharp Chair ranks #1 organically without paying a platform a cent.
What if I already use Booksy / Square / GlossGenius?
Glass Floor Studio can migrate your customer list, your service menu, and your barber schedules. You're not starting from scratch. Most migrations take a week, with zero downtime — your old booking link keeps working until the new one is live.
How does payment processing work without a platform?
Direct integration with Stripe (or Square as a processor only — no appointments subscription). You pay the same processing rate (~2.9% + 30¢) without the platform's markup. The Sharp Chair takes deposits at booking, balance in-chair.
Sources & methodology: Booksy pricing page (April 2026), Schedulista pricing, Square Appointments pricing, GlossGenius pricing. Yearly math assumes 200 bookings/month at $40 average ticket. Square transaction fee assumes use of Square POS for in-person payments. Your numbers may differ — book a free consultation with Glass Floor Studio for a personalized comparison built around your shop's volume and ticket size.
